Youth Leadership

Introduction

  • Troop youth leadership positions allow a Scout to become more involved in the troop decision-making process.
  • The Scouts plan the troop’s program and make it a reality.  In order for this to happen, the troop relies upon Scouts serving in leadership positions.
  • Star rank and above require leadership service.  All troop level leadership positions as well as patrol leader qualify.
  • Troop elections are held in May and December.  All elected youth leadership terms are 6 months.
  • Junior Leader Training is held shortly after troop elections.  All Scouts elected to a youth leadership position are expected to attend, even if they attended in the past.
  • Qualifications for all leadership positions.
    1. Must be active in the troop.
    2. Live by the Scout Oath and Law.
    3. Show Scout spirit.
    4. Wear the Scout uniform correctly.
  • Key leadership positions make-up the Patrol Leaders Council (PLC).

Note: if you currently hold a youth leadership position and have any electronic files or forms related to your position, please consider submitting them for inclusion on this web site.  See the Quartermaster troop position for an example.
